We are in the process of redoing our entire upstairs. Our special needs child has been living in our family room for various reasons since he first came home from the hospital. It was time to move him into his real room, but ideally we wanted to replace all of the carpet with hardwood to reduce dust, stains from mishaps, and to allow his ventilator stand to roll freely. This meant that our bedroom needed a redo. With the wood flooring, we have chosen to go with white doors and trim and have white wainscoting in our bedroom. When we redid the family room in preperation for him to come home, we replace the brass ceiling fan that was dyeing with a oiled bronze fan, as it was the only thing that seemed to strike my wife and sister in laws fancy. A few years ago when we redid the basement, we went with brushed nickel on the door hardware which is also white. Now that we have moved upstairs, the dilema is what to do for door hardware. My initial thought is to go with polished brass because it matches our bathroom lighting and plumbing fixtures as well as our ceiling fan. My wife original thought the oil rubbed, but that just does not go with the white doors in our book after looking at a hinge with the door. My wife thinks the brushed nickel would give it a fresher look, but I do not like the brushed fans that we have seen, mostly because they have cherry blades and our floor is Gunstock oak and our furniture is a light pine/maple finish. ANy ideas?

Hi tboyce,

I'd agree with your wife, and in addition I'd follow the door combination using a white fan

I'm not sure why you're even asking us. No matter what our advice I'm sure if your wife has her heart set on something that'll be what you end up getting!
