Hello,

I just had new windows installed on our remodel and after the stucco guys left I noticed bad water marks on the windows. Probably from the hard water and calcium build up.

I have tried a vinegar water solution but there are still some water spots that won't come off. What solution does everyone recommend to get rid of all the water marks / stains on the new Milgard windows?

Are you talking about spots on the glass, or spots on the outer frame of the window? If it's the frame, what's the frame made of- vinyl? aluminum?

If you can find glass polish, it is often effective for removing hard water spots on glass. I had my windows professionally cleaned, and the guys used a spray foam window cleaner and a razor blade.

Yes, I'm talking about the glass having water spots.

They are Milgard Tuscany Vinyl windows.

We use the cans of spray glass cleaner that Twelvepole mentioned. And if you use a razor blade to clean the spots off the glass, make sure that you wet the area first with your glass cleaner. You DEFINATELY do not want to scrape those spots with a razor while dry.

Remember to test this on a small area first to make sure you aren't scratching the glass.

What brand and type of spray/foam do you use in conjunction with the razor blade?

Thanks

Just jumping in, but I don't think the type of cleaner is that important. It's acting as a lubricant for the razor. You could probably try something like the Windex vinegar multi surface, though I think thats only in a trigger sprayer.

I've used that quite a bit out here in AZ, as it doesn't evaporate as quickly as the Ammonia/alcohol blue stuff. The vinegar seems to help with any minor water spotting as well.

Thanks, I will give that product a try using the razor blade very carefully.
