I have a Lynxr-I system. I have been told that zone 1 is not used on the Lynxr-I but is a hardwired zone on the Lynxr-en. I was really hoping to use this hardwired zone for my detached garage, does anyone know if this is true?

If not, how long (resistance) loop can you put on a 5816 transmitter?

Thanks for any info.

The hw zone input was deleted on the lynxr-i to make way for the optional onboard GSM and IP communicators. If it were me I would look into a hybrid vista 20p. If you want onboard IP comminication and optional cellular communication, then you can use the new vista 21ip. With the lynx, you are really limited to what you can do.
As far as the 5816 external wire length:

"DETAILS: The 5816 can tolerate high loop impedance before there is a false alarm issue. However, there are several areas of concern when the wire length is extended beyond the 3ft recommended by UL. Long wire lengths may subject the loop to noise pickup, increasing the propensity to false alarm. Shielded wire would be required and it would need to be properly grounded. The gage of the wire also plays a role in the impedance of the wire run, and must be considered. Extend wire runs at your own risk. " straight from the horses mouth.

If you are going to have to run wire anyway, then use a hybrid vista 20p and run wire to the garage for a 4219 zone expander for use in the garage.
