All this is new to me. No where in the manual does it say where to wire the motion sensor. Do I run it to a zone and common? And include that resistor? Model is the DSC Power Series PK5500
and what is PGM? call me an idiot.

The motion detector will have four wires, + goes to aux +. - goes to aux -, and the zone loop will go to zone and common. Depending on your configuration, you may or may not need a resistor. After wiring it in, you will still need to program the zone, unless you tie it to an existing zone.

How does the machine know its a motion and not a door?
And when testing the zone goes off but after a restart time if it is triggered again (same Zone) it does not set off the alarm siren.

You have to set the zone type.

If the zone that the motion is wired to is set as an interior follower zone, if an entry/exit zone is opened first, the motion will delay with the door.
