I recently moved into an existing home which includes a Napco SS4516 hardwired system (circa 2000?). The system appears functional with the exception that the home had an addition put on and some new windows/doors. This resulted in cut wires on some sensors and new areas being without any sensor coverage.

My thought is to buy the GE Concord 4 hybrid system, use the existing hardwired sensors from the Napco system to the extent functional, and use new GE wireless motion sensors, etc., to cover the additional areas.

I have two existing wired control keypads from the Napco system (first and second floors).

Q: Does anybody know if I can rely on the wired keypads provided with the GE Concord 4 System to be able to utilize the existing wires down to the new main panel? I don't know if there is any standardization insofar as number of individual wires, etc. I hate to buy the GE system only to find out control panels cannot be connected (It is my understanding at least one of the keypads must be wired).

Q: Do you foresee any problems with the system conversion that I may be overlooking?

I did do some searching and reading of the FAQs. It was a bit of information overload for a newbie. I think I will be okay, but I am not positive and I hate to do something obviously wrong. Great resource here.

Thanks in advance.

Concord keypads use 4 wires...as long as the Napco pads have 4 wires running to them, you'll be fine.

Napco keypads do use a 4 wire data bus. One thing to look out for, though is zone inputs on the keypads. Many times Napco, DSC and other manufacturers have a zone input on the keypads. You will usually notice the door contact being at keypad level, but pulling the keypads to check will be the best way to be sure.

Thank you both for your help. I pulled the Napco keypads and they are in fact 4-wire. Looks like I have my fall project in store. :)

Thank you again.
