Hi all; my first day on the site! I have a Panasonic TX-25LD4DP
TV set; Euro 4 chassis probably c10 years old.
When I switch it on using the remote it clicks on immediately but before the picture fully consolodates it clicks off again.
HELP! I'm not a techie, but I'm not too daft so should be able to follow instructions.Over too you.

First thing to try is to unplug the power to the set for a few hours. This will let everything reset in the set. Then power it up and see if it helped.

Thanks Craftsman; have now done that and still no joy........
it might be worth noting at this stage also that before this fault surfaced the picture went on the fritz from time to time over a period of a few weeks and the age old remedy of a smart tap on the top of the set cured it every time.:)

Ah! One of my most used troubleshooting technics. So the bad solder connection you have in the set just got worse.Unplug the set and take the back off.Look for a bad solder connection on the circuit board. It may be discolored by now but certantly is cracked.
If you cant find it,plug the set in and keeping one hand in your pocket, use th other hand to gently press on different areas of the circuit board with a NONmetalic object to see if you can get the set to come on.You may have to have someone hitting the power button while your doing this.
Let me know what you find.

No obvious sign of solder discolouration, applied pressure to all the points I could on the circuit board ( I am assuming the board in question is the one 5''x4'' in the centre rear of the tube) with my wife operating the remote.Still no joy.............

Wrong board. It will be somewhere on the larger board with the high voltage transformer on it.That is the part with the red wire coming out of it and connecting to the top of the picture tube.Try again and post back.

Oh THAT board.....the 'little' one about 24'' square!!(Didn't realise it slid out.:o
OK done that too and the wiggle test with no joy.

Ok,then it may have blown a fuse or fusible resister. Not uncommon if a bad connection is left unfixed too long.
Do you have a test meter?

Yes, I have a multi-function digital test meter but I must confess that all that I use it for is to test fuses and bulbs etc.All other functions available to me are as alchemy. But as I said before I can follow instructions.Incidentally thankyou so much thus far for all your time and trouble on this thread.Rog

That's great.Ok ,the resistors you will be looking for will have 2 color bands followed by 2 bands colored gold or silver.IE 2 gold,2 silver or 1 of each. They should check less than 10 ohms,or shorted like a fuse would check. There is a lot of them! There are also fuses that dont look like normal fuses. They are called Pico fuses.Search for "pico fuse " on the net to get an idea of what they look like.
This could take some time so dont get frustrated and give up.
