Bought home with system installed. Currently not monitored. Was getting trouble light when phone line was down but after phone service was restored from Ike, I cannot get a "Ready" light, panels does not show as being armed and everyday alarm will be set off by entry or motion sensor. Does show an open light on glass sensor from garage (reason I assume it does not give me a ready light). After I turn alarm off, system will not alarm until next day. Yesterday for example, left for work (didn't set or do anything to alarm). When I came home, garage entry triggered alarm. This morning, motion sensor triggered alarm. Can shut off alarm with code but do not know how to reset system so that alarm will not sound.

Figure this is a simple issue, just not familiar with system.

First, get a manual: Websearch using the phrase "DSC PC 5010 installer manual" Repeat the search using "programming worksheets". You need both.

It sounds like you have a working user code. I'd guess that someone activated the auto arm feature. Enter *6 [user code] + 2 to turn it off.
