Question:
I am in the process of putting tile in my kitchen, I have 3/4 inch plywood and a 1/4 inch mahogony plywood over the floor. I have screwed the floor down so it is solid. I am in the process of putting down true comfort heated flooring down first, then a thin set over top allowing it to dry and then using more thin set to put the tile down. Do I have to waterproof the plywood floor before my I cover the heated flooring and if so with what? The heated flooring is the coil type that has to be covered with thinset for warranty purposes. I did my laundry room first and placed the tile directly over the plywood and it is holding up well.

What do you think?

Thanks

Hi,

I recommend removing the 1/4 luan board and adding another layer of 1/2 plywood.

from the you can use 1/4 cementboard or Schluter Ditra and then install your

I did my laundry room first and placed the tile directly over the plywood and it is holding up well.this isn't a recommended way to install tile, but with more quality modified mortars it cant be successfully done.
