I have been removing the wallpaper in our bathroom and the walls do not have any texture and have some rough spots.
There are some places where the paint/primer was pulled off and some other tears in drywall.

Will the Venetian Plaster cover some of these rough areas in the drywall?

Although venetian plaster can be built up over imperfections in the drywall, it has been my experience that you can save yourself time and money by preparing your surface and making it fairly smooth first. Venetian plaster materials are more expensive than plaster and joint compound. If you have big pits you have to even out, it will take a lot of the product to fill it. Furthermore, Venetian Plaster takes time to let layers set. You want those layers to be of even thickness or you can make a mess. The better your starting surface, the easier it will be to get the results you want. I know you want to save time by smoothing out the wall while doing the final finish. Be patient and take the time to prepare the surface. You'll be happier with the results.
