we want to replace our vinyl window. how do you measure when a replacement is already in? measuring with a wood window is easy. also, how bout an aluminum?
also, the bottom part of the window where the bottom sash closes on to,if its a wood window, does that get replaced as well? 3 of our windows are wood.
thank you

If doing a completely new window, remove the trim and measure the framed opening. Measure corner/center/corner on top to bottom, side to side, and measure diagonally to determine if the opening is square. Use the smallest measurements for the manufacturer. If existing window frame, same thing but measure the opening where the sash would be.
