An easy way to clean off the burnt on crud on the interior walls of a microwave is to put a cup of water into it. Set it on high (100%) power for 5 minutes and then wipe clean. Extra tough spots may need to be scraped off with a gift card, credit card or drivers license. To give it a fresh scent, put lemon juice in a cup and cook it on high for a few minutes.

Thanks for reminding readers on how to clean a microwave oven. To prevent microwave splatters, it's best to cover food as recommended.

I'm sure that we have all had a cover or two pop off in the past from forgetting to prick an egg yolk with a fork.

I knew about the water trick but have never tried using lemon juice for a nice smell. Thanks for that! :)

have used that trick in the past...a good way of seeing the results is to pop a few bags of popcorn in there...and then do it...paper towel will be yellow with the butter residue
