Last year I did some baking and used my dining room table as a cooling area. I did put a cover over the table to protect it but is was not enough. I have white marks on my cherry finished table top, from the heat. Is there a simple way to fix this without refinishing the table top?

You night using a little plain toothpaste on a damp cloth to see if the marks will polish out. The toothpaste is slightly abrasive and works like a polishing compound, which it is. Test it on a very small spot to see if it will help.

I've also heard this will work, but have never tried it:
