I have a Honda 350 four trax w/o a manual. I'm trying to disassemble the piston and need help. Does anyone have a manual or know how to go about doing this?

What are you taking apart on the piston? The rings simply expand and pull off. A typical piston to connecting rod is done with a wrist pin held in place in the piston with circlips. Those compress and pull out fairly easily.

I haven't even gotten that far yet. I need to get the valve cover off first and don't know how?

Try this link to an engine breakdown:
http://www.cyclepartsnation.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/7/Honda.aspx
Wait, this isn't getting you to the engine. Use this link, then follow the pull down menus to go to the 350 trx (86). Then use the pull down menu on that page to go to cylinder head. That should give you all the nuts and bolts you have to take off.
It should be at this diagram:

Never mind there was one bolt I was missing and that was keeping the valve cover from coming off. Thanks for your help and I'll probably contact you again as I get into this thing.

Here's the crank and crankcase from the same site.

The valve springs are held to the valve stems by a couple of collets. You compress the spring and the collets pop off the grooves in the valve stem. Once you get one done, you see how they are set up. You can get a spring compressor from an auto parts store. Don't do this in the grass or dirt. Those little collets can take off on you = can't find them.
Are you doing a major on that thing?

Thanks for the help,
Yeah I'm rebuilding the top end! It's turned out to be one of those jobs that you wonder why you started it!

Any ideas or websites for removing the camshaft?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Without a rod cap on that piston connecting rod, it gets a lot more complicated.
You can go to that Cycle Nation site (the one first posted), then go to your ATV on the pull down menu and follow that through to the cam. Just a minute I'll get you a diagram for it.

The cam is shown in a separate diagram, but it really doesn't help too much.

That shouldn't be too tough to get it out, though. It just mounts in the top of the head. You have to take off the sprocket or split the chain.
But getting that sucker back together will be tough without the procedure to get the timing of the cam relative to the crank right. There would be timing marks involved and where to set everything prior to going back together. I think I would spend the $15.00 bucks or so and get the manual.

It should be easy but there is something holding the cam in. I've taken off all the bolts. I haven't broken down and bought the manual yet around here ther $35 and up. I'm sure once the cam comes off I can do the rest. Any ideas on what's holding it on?
