We have been living in our home for 6 years now. Its on a slab foundation and noticed the other day when moving something in the garage that the surface seems to be slightly weak. It doesnt appear too bad but if you take anything metal and run it along the surface of the concrete it can scratch away a little of the surface. I googled concrete problems and it looks like it may be dusting. It doesnt appear to be bad only light dusting, but should this be something we need to have correcting right away or is it more of a cosmetic problem that we can just live with?

cosmetic most likely, one consideration is to use a epoxy floor paint to seal your floor that will give it some extra protection and also help to keep the garage clean.
