hello

my dad has been working on refinishing our neighbors cabinets. What happen was our neighbor wanted her cabinets to be refinished. She wanted them refinished without shine. At first she went out to buy the stain and we refinished it, it ended up being a shiney finish. After a few times of mistakes of her buying the wrong stain and us having to sand and refinish over and over again, she finally got the right stain. we put that stain on and most of the cabinets we fine and didnt have a shiney finish, but a few of the cabinets still had shine on them that is visible in light.

i was wondering if this was due to us refinishing the cabinets to many times? what can we do to fix this problem?

thank you

Welcome to the forums!

What exactly are you coating the cabinets with?

Stain is for coloring the wood. Then poly should be applied over the stain when dry, usually 3 coats. Poly comes in 3 basic sheens; satin, semi-gloss and gloss.
