Like an earlier poster I want to Laminate a bedroom floor, and the hall is hardwood with about 3/4" difference in height between the two floors. However I do not want to place a new layer of 1/4" plywood to decrease the difference. When I lay down the laminate and underlayment I will still have about 1/4" or slightly more difference between the floors. Will a reducing strip take care of this difference? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they have those transition strip packs that can make up the difference. It has the reducer in it.
