Ihave a regular hinged wooden door that has a large plate glass window right beside it. The 2X8 that was used as a sole plate for the frame has rotted and both the door AND the window frames have dropped over an inch. The window didnt break, but the door sits cocked in the frame, leaving a gap at top right (somebody trimmed off the bottom left so the door would open and close). My thought is that if the window didnt break going down, that it shouldnt break going back up. If that is the case I want to jack up the good part of the frame and put a new sole plate under it. Then lower it down and repair the door. (the window is plate glass, and is actually bigger than a normal size door.)

you need to see if you can remove that window before trying any repairs, it would be much easier to work with out a window that could shatter and cause sharp glass fragments everywhere.
