A friend of mine has a TV left behind in her new appartment. The female receptacle on back appears to be missing. Is there a replacement part that can be installed? It looks as if there are threads for a part to screw into.

Post a make and model # for this set. Typically these require to be soldered in, which is not to difficult. Hopefully the board is not damaged if this part is already missing.

Does the set come on and have snow and static sound? If so check and see if it has audio/video input jacks. If it has ,then plug a source in and check the condition of the set. There might have been something wrong with the set,so they just left it.

As an addendum to Craftman_50's suggestion, IF it does have AV jacks and a VCR or DVD player seems to work fine through them, you might want to consider using a VCR as the tuner, thus saving yourself the hassle of taking the TV apart, if you're uncomfortable working around electronics.

To make a couple of guesses, it is likely an older TV and will not be able to receive the digital broadcast TV next year unless you have cable or satellite programming. Keep this in mind as you estimate the labor and costs of repair. If you use over the air (antenna) reception, it is probably not worth it.

Just one opinion.

If the TV otherwise works and has an A/V input, one can just use a converter box.

Hey Guys. Once again you have not let me down. I appologize for not monitoring the board. My life is not quite as convenient as it once was. Thanks much!! Dan
