Model 917255450 Kohler OHV 14 HP
Starts intermitantly. Runs smooth when it runs. After running for a while, there's no spark. Other problem is the fuel shutoff solenoid wire is pulled out. I removed the rubber boot at the end of the plunger and it ran for a while, but ran into same problem as above. Is it okay to leave fuel shutoff solenoid as is? I bypassed the ignition switch to feed 12 V to the coil, and still no spark. Is the magneto coil the problem? Any advice will be appreciated.

The coil may or may not have been the problem, but it is for sure bad now. Feeding 12 volts to the coil should never be done. It fries the coil instantly. Replace it and then if you still have no spark, report back.
