I have an XL44 Gas range on which the top burners and the Broil functions works fine, but the oven does not work at all. I do not see any "glow" from the Glow igniters for the oven either. Is the glow bar of this model at the bottom of the oven ? How would I diagnose this problem and is it relatively easy to fix ( DIY ?). Is there a part that is usually suspect in this sort of situation ? Looking forward to your further guidance.

Hello hitechseeker. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.

If the igniter fails to glow at all and all other selections and optional selections on the control panel are set correctly, the HSI will need to be replaced with a new part. Replacing it should solve the problem.

Igniter will be mounted on the burner tube and located very near the burner, on the back left side or above the burner. Part is usually a flat bar surrounded by a metal protective guard. Has two wires attached to it.

*Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers.

Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers can also perform tests on parts and stock replacement parts for all appliances. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
