Aloha there,

I need some help with a Honda EB5000 Serial # EA7-3145335.

The unit will start and produce power, but regardless of load, after a few minutes of normal running the generator will start to cough and cause an erratic idle. I have access to a load tester and have put a 25amps on the 30a circuit @ 110v. I get a hz reading of 58 and voltage between 100-105v.

I replaced the speed contoller and the problem has lessened, but not completely gone away. I ordered a diode assy but Honda sent one with a completely different connecting harness- honestly not sure if the diode plays into this but, that is where I am at :)

The local dealer says it is probably bad fuel, but I have recently converted the unit to run on propane, and I get the same results whether I use propane or gasoline.

Anyway, I am lost here, but any advise or ideas would be gladly appreciated :)

Mahalo
