I am in the final stages of a project that required that I move a wall. I repaired the red oak hardwood flooring with new. The floors themselves are not in bad shape but I have these new unfinished pieces scatter throughout. Can I lightly sand the floors and reapply poly? Or would it be best to have them professionally redone?

Unless you do a complete resanding of the whole area, then it will be extremely difficult to get the new wood to match as it will be lighter because the existing floor will have faded over time. You could try using stain to darken the boards before finishing as a temporary fix until you are ready to have the floors sanded.
