Hello,
I have a problem with our KitchenAid gas range. We had a power outage the other night in the neighborhood and when we returned home of course had to reset the zillion clocks in the house including the one on the range. The next morning we were heating water for tea and the burners would not ignite. No clicking no nothing. We could light them with a match. I use to be a landlord with apartments so I've worked on electric ranges and know somewhat how they work. The range is about 10 years old (Model KGST307). I was trying to find what ignites the burners because I suspect that to be the problem but not sure. I followed the colored wire from each burner control to a block on the left side of range. It is located towards the back about 12" off floor on left side. The wires from burner controls come in on one side of block and wires coming out of other side of block going to burners themselves. Also the white/black/ ground power wires go into block. Oh I did check to make sure breaker wasn't tripped and there is power to the receptical. Am I on the right track or do I need to do something else? Thank you for any assistance.

Hello Dave. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

First need to establish if there is or is not electrical power to the appliance internally. Without knowing that we could be offering useless and unneeded possible causes...:( and you could be doing a lot of checking, testing and other unneeded work...:wall:

I am aware power to appliance from wall recipticule but is there power (inside & internally) to appliance componets???

Questions:

#1
Does the clock work and keep time or dispaly the correct time? If so, there is power to the appliance. If not, no power.

#2
Does oven and/or broiler work? Yes or No? If hot surface igniter(s) glow (work) there is power to appliance. If not, no power in appliance.
