Finally getting around to a permanent fix to a property slope problem....
Have to add dirt against the house to get the water away.
The brick is painted and will be adding concrete at a 5" of height above grade (8" total) and 4" thick against the brick for 20'........
Question.....
What to use between the painted brick and the new pour to adequately seal it?......Was thinking of rubber, even attaching a PVC board calked to the painted brick,,,,,but rubber/tar type (Protecto-Wrap) is the leading candidate.
Also will attach a concrete retaining wall to the painted brick in another place.....
Any suggestions?
Thanks

is the brick above slab or below slab. if above slab you should think about acheving the slope by removing soil further from the house. any soil above slab will have a tendancy to move moisture into the wall. waterproofing will help but some moisture will eventually find its way in.

Do not attempt to attach the new concrete slab to the existing wall. The concrete will shrink as ir cures and pull away. Use a conventional control joint material and caulk it later after it shrinks. If you are willing to deal witha 1/8" open joint, that is up to you.
You never attach an external retaining wall to a foundation since they do not have the same foundation and conditions. Again it is best to plan to caulk after curing and Mother Nature is done with the movement.
