Bricks, Masonry, Asphalt and Concrete - Stone Dust Compression Question

We're in the planning stages of walkway project where we'll be removing an existing concrete walk and replacing it with one made from pavers.

The plan at present is to break up the concrete and then lay a base of about 4 inches of stone dust with the pavers going over top. My question is, how much can we expect the stone dust to compress using a powered compressor?

We'll be connecting an aslphalt driveway to our porch across our front lawn and if I get the compression factor right, everything should end up flush at all edges.

the compression will vary based on the thickness of dust you place before vibrating. about 3 in is the most you should place before compacting, check out some old posts the proper placement has been discussed by concretemasonry several times in the past few months.
