We moved a potted plant to the polished stone surrounding our fireplace and accidentally left it there for several weeks. Either the water that condensed around the bottom of it or mold that grew because of the water left a stain that we just can't get out.
We *think* that the stone is soapstone, but are not 100% sure. I've included a photo of the stain below, as well as some photos of the surrounding stone and a closeup of unstained stone to see if anyone can help identify the stone or offer advice on how to remove the stain.
Any and all advice is very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

soapstone doesnt like acidic liquids...water over time going thru the soil and then out will turn acidic..it may of damaged the stone....gentle cleaners such as a few drops of dish liquid is what is suggested for regular cleaning
if that doesnt do the trick..light sanding with 80 grit sandpaper may help....soapstone should also be treated on a regular basis ever 4 weeks or so with mineral oil to ensure it keeps an uniform color
