Panel = Vista 20P
Keypads = Vista 6160 LCD alpha-numerics.

Problem:

The system will properly arm in all modes except "Away" and "Maximum". When attempting to arm in "Away" the keypad will display that it is arming in "Away" on the LCD during the countdown but once the system actually arms the keypad display reads that it is armed in "Stay". When arming in maximum the display indicates "Maximum" during countdown but once the system arms the display then indicates that it is armed in "Instant".

The arming procedure being used is: Code + 2 for Away and Code + 4 for Maximum. Keys 2 and 4 are pre-labled "Away" and "Max" respectively. Stay, Instant, and Night stay modes all arm and function as they are supposed to.

Any help would be appreciated. Please reply here

Are you remembering to open and close an entry/exit door during the countdown?

The Auto-stay feature is intended to keep people from arming away, and then walking into their own motion detectors. The feature _can_ be disabled, but I don't generally recommend it.

No, Im testing a system so I'm not actually leaving and that could well be the problem. Will failure to open and close an entry door prevent arming Max too? Which programming field controls the auto-stay feature?

Thanks

OK I answered my own question as far as how to enable/disable auto stay (Programming field 84 if anybody else has the same problem) but will this also prevent arming maximum? I haven't been able to test it because I am not where the alarm is right now I'm just looking at the installer manual.

Maximum uses the same configuration as away arming, but without an entry delay, so the auto-stay would still kick in.

If you have no interior devices, then disable the feature, otherwise, just open and close the door while you are testing, after all, that's a test of the real world operation of the system.

Thanks for the help. I'll check it with that procedure tomorrow.
