Hi,
we moved into our building and it has an unmonitored alarm system installed by ADT years ago.
We are a small business, and want to watch our outgo...can we get this system to dial one of the members instead of a monitoring service?
The manual says it is a Vista-100.
We do have a phone line through Qwest that is dedicated for the alarm. It is giving us a comm failure because it is a new number.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It can be done, but realize that this is a fairly high-end system, and even something as simple as dialer programming is going to be a little challanging.
First, verify that you actually have a dialtone at the jack for the panel's dialer. Your change of phone service may have simply disconnected the physical line that this system was connected to. The panel doesn't _care_ what the phone number is, as long as it has a dial tone.

I will try to check that tomorrow. As a new company, I've got many battles, so this may be one I choose not to wage.
If I go the route of outsourcing this project, are there services that would do this for us as opposed to working on our system only to gain the monitoring services? We'd be happy to pay for the techs time...we're just trying to keep from monthly committments right now.
I'll let you know.
Thanks.

Check around your local area. Many non-franchise alarm installers will configure your hardware any way you like for the basic hourly rate plus materials. Just make sure that they know Ademco hardware (which most do).
