I have posted numerous questions I have had about my recent bathroom renovation over the last two weeks on this and other forums on doityourself.com, thanks everyone for the great advice!! But yet one more question...

I was going to install ceramic tile in our bathroom (5' x 5' floor space including vanity), over Ditra membrane and two layers of 1/2" plywood, but my wife and I are having second thoughts! We recently went into a flooring shop and found a quite nice piece of vinyl sheeting remnant for cheap that will fit no problem. Now what do we do?

Pros and cons of tile? Pros and cons of vinyl flooring?

My thoughts, with tile compared to vinyl - pros - better appeal, and more durable than vinyl - cons - harder to install, more expensive, glass items dropped on it will break, more tools needed, cooler to feet.

Comments? We want to make a good decision based a lot on what you guys have to say.

tile will last much longer if grout is maintained and sealed..it will also add more valve to your home vs vinyl..which could be a selling point down the road..it is more expensive and harder to install

vinyl will still need maintained as it ages..if torn thats about it for it..but cheaper and easier to install

depends on how much budget you have and what you want out of your home

If thats what your plan is, then you would be better off with the vinyl. Tile likely wont last long.:)
