I have a 100' driveway that i recently ripped up the asphalt and found brick pavers underneath. The pavers have lost there grade and have dips thruout also the top faces of the pavers are cracking. My ? is can i turn them over exposing their new look side? if they have cracks all the way thru i'll replace them. What would be a sutable base and filler between the pavers for them to handle cars parked on them?
The driveway is active with my tennant foot traffic so i'm gonna attempt 10' sections at a time. I don't want to rent a tamper everyime i get to a section so can i save money using a hand stamper / tamper?
whatever you guys can recommend i would really appreciate myime and money saved.
thanks:wall:

You should plan on doing the entire project at one time to eliminate the waviness. You will need a compacted sub-base engineered to your location, then a bed of coarse bedding sand. A finer sand should be use to fill the gaps, and a plate compactor should be used. No plastic beneath, ever. Any weeds will be from seeds from the top, not underneath.

the thing is i have tennant foot traffic going thru the driveway and have to do it on my off time plus i just don't have the rom to put the brick i pull out to re-use. was gonna pull out sections at a time at end of driveway and work my way back in front of house. you think even if i string my benchmark the sections wil settle differently making the waves? do you think i can grade whatever is underneath now, tamp it then put tampped sand base down will be sufficient enough? i just bought this house and resources are low so i can't afford to do the whole thing at once. if you were in my situation what would you do

I wouldn't do anything until I could do it right. It is too much work to have to do more than once.
