i just bought a house and the pull was broken on the 3 speed switch so i replaced it exactly the way it was but only have med and low speeds i noticed a wire was looped on the switch so i reinstalled the same way does this seem like it may be the problem? if not what might it be? please help....

It might be the switch, it might be the switch connections, or it might be the capacitor block in the fan. I would call the customer service line of the fan manufacturer for advice.
But watch out--it's pretty easy to spend more on replacement parts than the cost of a new fan.
