We just installed engineered wood flooring using the recommended adhesive which is pretty near impossible to remove. As careful as we were it still got on the there and we've tried everything to get it off.

If magic eraser doesn't do it, then you will have to live with it. It etches the finish, if it is on longer then a day or two, leaving a permenent blimish.
Now you know what we get paid the big bucks. We have been there and done that, and know to get the glue off immediately, or else we may eat a job like yours. Imagine how mad you would be if you paid professionals and they left glue everywhere... It happens more often then you think.

Carpets Done Wright is absolutely correct. PROFESSIONAL floor installers have "been there and done that", so we know to remove the excess glue immediately - using the adhesive manufactures recommended remover (and at the same time following the warranty specifications from the wood flooring manufacture).
Most adhesive manufactures will have a statement like: WARNING – DO NOT allow adhesives to dry on the finished flooring as it is very difficult to remove it once dried without damaging the flooring...
You do not specify which manufacture of adhesive you used, but I usually used Bostik Best. They have their own adhesive remover called Bostik's Ultimate Urethane Adhesive Remover (for the Urethane Adhesive *I never used the water based Adhesives as they usually fail!)

Scroll down the page on the link above and you will find the adhesive remover. they say that it can be used to remove both wet and cured adhesive... but I am almost certain you are going to have to live with the result you have on the floor, unless you hire a professional to come in and sand the entire floor, and that is only possible if the engineered floor that you installed has a suffiecient wear thickness (read the flooring manufacture's spec's).
