Hi. I have a 15 year old DSC 1550 system. It has doors and windows hard wired and two keypads. I would like to replace the system with a new system that 1) has a cellular connection to the central station, 2) keeps a record of the date/time of events, 3) adds fire/smoke detectors. Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement system that I could install myself? Thanks.

Pretty much any of the modern systems has those features available. The trick with the cell dialers, is that those have to be setup via a dealer to connect to the central station (these are dedicated networks)

The newer DSC panels (PC 1832) will do what you want, but many DIY people have difficulties with their installer instruction.

The Networx NX-8 panel is a good choice, and so is the Honeywell/Ademco Vista 20P.

With any of these, in order to be able to view the system log, you need to get the alphanumeric LCD keypad.
