I have a Culligan Mark 89 with a Soft-Minder metering device. Last year I noticed that water was running thru the system as though it was stuck in the backwash cycle. I was unable to stop the flow in the brine tank.
I changed timer settings, dosages, recharge time, etc... with no success. I was traveling quite a bit so I just pressed the manual bypass on the back of the unit and am using straight city water now.
I have just replaced yet another water heater because of our horrible hard city water and need some advice.

I can't seem to find a metering device for sale...
...or any post that may help me diagnose and fix this problem.I contacted Culligan when this happened and they wanted to send a sales rep over to pitch new systems to me. NOT INTERESTED.

HELP!!! please

Dan

Five days and no posts/replies...
Is this an indication of the difficulty of repair or complexity of the problem?

Hey Dan, sorry to hear about your problem.... Unfortunately your probably going to have to break down and call Culligan. I have had the same problem with my Culligan system (Estate Model 01010091) on three times now in the past 2 years and each time was charged $30 for the part and $150 for the labor and my wife said that it took him les than 15mins to complete the repair.I unfortunately was unable to be home when the repair was done so I wasnt able to see what was done and Ive looked all over the internet to find a breakdown of the valve assembly to figure out what the part was but with no luck.If you have any luck please post any info. I for one am going to probably replace this system with one I install myself so Im able to get parts in the event of any problems. I am sorry I ever dealt with Culligan but I was being lazy at the time and didnt feel like dealing with it myself . What a costly lesson Ive learned.. Good Luck
