Ok! I have a mess--In removing wallpaper, my friend really got into it and when she tore off the wallpaper she removed paper all the way down to the cardboard in several large areas. I have tried using drywall mud but it only bubbles on the cardboard areas. Now what?

Welcome to the forums Mary!
Anywhere the paper face of the drywall is missing should be coated with a solvent based primer. This will seal the gypsum prevent water [in j/c or paint] from disolving it.
