My Kenmore gas dryer door switch went out and I want to replace it. I tryed to lift the top cover off but it will only lift up about four inches, I'm trying not to damage anything. Has somebody had this problem before? Appreciate your help.

If you have one of those long curved lint screens that goes downward through that top panel near the back, there are 2 screws inside when you raise up the lint screen cover, that have to be unscrewed. Then the top panel wil raise all the way.

Did that happen to be the reason, you could not open it all the way, or not?

Yes it was, and it just took me about ten minutes to replace the switch. Thanks again.

I have a Kenmore 80 Series gas dryer, 118.72812101, with a bad door switch. Can someone detail exactly how to lift the front so I can get to the switch? Also, any suggestions where to buy the switch? Thanks
