I bought a new GE washer model# wbsr3140gww about 18 months ago and now it is giving me a problem. Last weekend my wife tried to wash a small blanket but it never rinsed. The blanket was wet but not a lot of water in the washer. I set the washer in a spin mode but the washer didn't spin. It soundded like it was trying but didn't move an inch. I gave it a push and closed the lid. After a few minutes, I opened the lid quickly and saw it was spinning very slowly. My contractor thought it was the belt but it wasn't. He did a diagnostic test (behind the control panel) and the light blinked 9 times. He told me it could be the motor. I'd rather buy a new washer than replacing a new motor. Does anyone know what could be the problem? We used this washer no more than 30 times. Thanks for your help.

Haven't worked on that type yet but if there water in the machine I would first check the pump. Blankets come apart and jam pump Hairpins and such can get in pump and jam it. Take front cover of and the pump will be there. GE usually have a electric pump that works in the spin cycle.

It was only one blanket and was in one piece. There was not much water in the washer.

OK. I opened up the front panel and saw a green LED light just above the motor. The LED flashes 9 times then a pause, then flashes 9 times again. Does anyone know what it means?

OK. Found the 9 flashes on the LED indicator means the motor is bad. Bought a new motor (a better model) on eBay for $100. Replaced the motor last weekend and the washer is working like a charm. The motor is very easy to replace.
