Cleaning and Stain Removal - Crystal Like Fungus In Double Paned Windows

About a month ago a crystal like fungus that looks intricate like snowflakes almost and is whitish/transparent appeared in one of our double paned, wood framed windows. It is in the inside of the double pane so we are unable to reach it. It seems to be spreading and is filling most of the window now. I've looked online but haven't been able to identify what it is or how to get rid of it. I'm not even sure if it is a fungus but it isn't moisture because the window is dry and it is very intricate (like crystal snowflakes) and is spreading outward. Can anyone help with a suggestion or has anyone had this problem? Thanks! :confused:

The seal on the double pane window has deteriorated. When seal is broken, insulative gas escapes and air and moisture can enter between panes. Fogging between the panes begins to take place, and window can eventually turn white. There is no way to clean between the panes. It is time for window replacement.

"The Family Handy Man" magazine this month has a section on windows and covered the fogging (ie: broken pane seal).

Apparently you can get replacment glass from the manufacturers or from online resouces - rather than having to replace the whole window. I have bow windows so replacing them is much more than a single double-hung.

you can get replacement sashes for vinyl windows...wooden i do know about..the cost of the replacement sash for the window still may make the cost of replacing with vinyl a better idea
