I am installing the NX-8V2 alarm system. I do not have a smoke detector. Is there something I should do to SMOKE + and common terminals so that the system will not detct it as an open zone? For example should I put a 3.3 K or 680 ohm resistor supplied with the cotrol board across the terminals SMOKE terminals?

No, those terminals are for supplying resettable power for 4-wire smoke detectors.

As long as you don't turn on the 2-wire smoke zone function on zone 8, or program a zone for fire, you have no issues.

Thanks, I think Zone 8 is a defailt for a 2-wire Smoke Detector but I have alarm sensors on it. Do I need to do anything or will the controller sensors?

The function of _any_ zone is completely dependent on the zone type programmed for it. The default setting for zone 8 on an NX-8 is "instant" (zone type 6).

Zone 8 is the _only_ zone that can be set for 2-wire smokes by removing the jumper on the motherboard, changing the setting on one of the system options in programming, and programming the zone as a fire zone.
