my whirlpool fridge is leaking --water is accumulating on the shelf on top of the veggie drawers. i cannot find the source of the leak and do not know why it is leaking. it is right next to a gas range, which i now understand is no good. could this be causing the water issue? right now i am leaving the right hand veggie drawer open slightly and the water is dripping into it instead of onto the floor... any suggestions?

If this is a top freezer model, look at the top of the refrigerator section, and see if there is water dripping from there. Next place might be the drain tube on some refrigerators are located at the top center of the refrigerator section, and may be blocked from draining into your drain pan, causing water to drip.

Doubt it. Fridges should be able to defrost all their frost even if refrigerator runs quite often between cycles, I do believe.

Himeros has right idea.

But if you use the gas range a lot, try to gain some separation if possible. Or if you cannot, perhaps purchase one of those asbestos?-filled free-standing fireplace floor mats inbetween oven and fridge section (if you have at least a fraction of an inch), and try using the burners that are away from the fridge, when possible.

Sounds like the drain tube is plugged midway. Can you see where the water is comming out from? If you can, you need to clear the tube below that point so water can get to the drain pan instead of the interior.
