I just installed a new outdoor yard light and as soon as I connected power to it, it came on momentarily then popped and would no longer work. I tried a new bulb but it still would not come on. I figured it was a faulty fixture, so I exchanged the fixture for a new one only to get the same result as soon as I turned on the power to it:wall: . I followed the instructions (black to black, white to white) and I cant figure out why this is happening. The light is made by Lights of America model 9166. Thanks in advance for any help.

I did do little digging and you have 65 watt CFL sectury luminaire { dusk to dawn }

there are few possiblty it can cause some cuprits

photocell .,,
When the light is bouncing into the photo eye the light will come on for few seconds then shut off if too much light reflet to the luminaire it will go off then on then off like cycling.

Motion sensor wall switch.,,

Some of them are not designed to work with CFL luminaire with electronic ballast they will really wreck hovic with it.

Incorrect switch connetion { that do happend from time to time }

Incorrect voltage { very rare but it do happend.}

What you should try to is disconnect that luminaire and get a test light or voltmeter and read or check the voltage at the luminaire you should get 120 volts by checking black and white if so and you have standard wall toggle switch it should stay on steady.

Keep in your mind when you hook up the Dusk to Dawn luminaire any of them have photocell { or electric eye } expect them to come on for few seconds to a minute or so then shut off until it get dark then it will kick on.

Do you have lighted toggle handle ? If so that can play trick on the electronic ballast.

let us know what the result and post it back here.
