Hi all,
How do I shut this security system off ?
I just bought the house and after some power failures, it is driving me crazy. For no reason, the keypad will start beeping, usually in the middle of the night.
I'm not using the system yet and it's not connected to any outside systems(police/fire).
Thanks.

It probably has a low backup battery.
If you just want to shut it off, find the system cabinet, open it and unplug one of the slip on connectors on the battery. Then either find the wall transformer plugged into a nearby outlet and unplug it, or take the wire on the first terminal on the motherboard off, and use electical tape to keep it from shorting against anything.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the delay getting back.
Can I shut it down programmatically, using a code ?
I don't want to lose the programming that exists.

If you don't have the user code, the only way to get control of the system is to use the hardware default, which wipes out the programming, so you have to reset everything from scratch.

OK. I don't see anything written on the manual or the cheat sheet of zones. I think the problem is low battery.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

And thought you might be able to point me in the right direction
We purchased a new house in 2002 and things have been fine. Until this week. I started getting error beeps from the PC5508Z LED Keypad. I got my Instruction Manual and read through it. I did the *2 and the zone light 1 is lit: Service Required.
I have no idea who installed. I did the Batt/Bell test and it worked. All my zones chirp. The Keypad shows System Ready light lit and Trouble light lit
Do you have any further information as to what light 1 is telling me or is an installer necessary?
Any information will be appreciated.

Trouble 1 is nearly always low battery. DSC just tends to be obtuse in it's user manuals. The installer manual has a full trouble chart.
