We have a house in CT and jobs. We are looking at moving to Mass.
What do we do? Do we sell frist and then move? Is there anyway to sell in CT move to Mass and get a mortgage without having been working in mass? Do we need to work a certain amount of time before we can buy another house?
Thanks
Matt

As you probably know CT and MA or they are two different worlds depending what areas you are. Boston is not like Westport, which is not like Bridgeport, which is not like Uncasville.
Rent in MA and see what the area you want to be in is like.
If it looks promissing, you can either rent or sell your CT property, depending on the location and market.
There are also other parts of the U.S. unless you are tied to New England, which is unique, but limiting.
I lived in CT once and like the coast (only well east of New Haven).

I agree that unless you are familiar with MA and know already where you want to live, renting first is a good idea.
So you would both be quitting jobs in CT and looking for new ones when you get to MA?

Aside from the sell/rent thing, you could probably get a home loan for relocation reasons. If the company you are working for now wants to relocate you to another state...you don't have to wait provided you can provide the Lender w/documentation of the relocation.
