I have my deck all framed, and am about to start putting down the decking (has not arrived yet). I am putting a bench along one side. I was planning on using the bench brackets available here: http://www.mcfarlandcascade.com/welcome/accessories.aspx
I framed the deck 16" OC, but I know that this wood can go much higher. I don't want to have a bench bracket every 16" however. The manufacturer says you can go up to 36." I can't go by this, however, as they are specifying 2x6 material. I am using 1x6, though it is a much harder wood than they are basing thier span on.
I want to know how far apart I can space my brackets without running into sag/spring issues. Note that this will only be for sitting, as opposed to the decking where people would be walking.

Don't people weigh the same when they are sitting?
I certainly wouldn't go higher than 24".
