:wall: Hello. I collect novelty telephones and I also smoke. I know, bummer!!! But anyway, some of my telephones that I had out on shelves have absorbed the tar and nicotine from the smoke and I can't get it out! The only thing that I have tried that works, partly, is putting lemon juice on it and laying it out in the sun for a while, it brings some of it to the surface but then it is real sticky and no cleaner I have tried will take that off!! Does anyone know of anything that will take the tar and nicotine out? I have one phone that is really bad and I want to save it. I have packed all my other phones down until I can get a case for them or until I quit smoking, until then I want to get the others that have this on them cleaned up!! Thanks.

Have you tried Fantastic or Greased Lightning and also Glass Plus or Windex Surface Cleaner? Ex-smoker here  :mask: That's probably the #1 reason I quit, but found those products worked best. Spray on a paper towel then wipe.

I also find Fantastic works well on smoke as well as a solution of TSP.

You need to keep in mind that plastics can be permanently stained if the offending substance is left on the surface for a long time.
This is what happens to fridges and freezers that fail without being discovered for a long time.........they can not be salvaged.

Cleaning the best you can and putting away are all you can do.

Rubbing alcohol is also effective for cleaning and disinfecting telephones and office equipment. Any discoloration of plastic will be permanent because plastic tends to be porous and absorbent.
