I need to replace the con rod and my crankshaft. It should be a three piece crank right? You have a pin and two weights. Would I need to press this apart and if so how do u keep the weights lined up when I press it back together? Can I do it on a shop press and some home made tooling? or should it be done at a bike shop?

That should be done at a shop. You need to be tech level to work with it - that's not a simple crank setup.

I've always pulled the crankshaft/connecting rod out and mailed it off for proper work to be done.

Yes, you can build a rig, jig, and press it together. The trouble to do all this engineering is not worth the expense and trouble of sending it off. That's what the repair shops will do.

Unless you need to do it as a self educational venture - then go for it.

I'd bet there are less than 100 places that are set up to properly do this specific function across the country. I'm sure there would be at least one place that ONLY does Blasters.
