I have a 1971 Reinell 21' fiberglass boat, with floor rot. Fiberglass over plywood with water soaked foam in between floor and bottom of hull. It looks to me as if the foam is more for a hull stiffener than flotation. Is that true and do I need to refill with new foam? Also, several of the hull angles have backing boards fiberglassed on them, which seem to be rotten, do I need to cut them out and replace them. Thanks for any help out there.
