Hello, new user here and I went looking through the forums I could find and not sure where would be an appropriate place to post for this. I'm not very good with searching forums and didn't find any results for what I'm looking for.

I have an air bed that has developed a leak....somewhere. I have tried pumping it way up so it's very hard, but within 1 to 2 hours it is very soft again. I can't hear the leak, I've tried listening all around it. I had read somewhere in the past you can try spraying water with soap on it, but I'm not sure what the purpose of that would be. How much soap to water do you use and would it be like regular dish soap?

How would you check the felt side of it? The plastic sides that's no problem, but if you can't find a leak there, then it must be on the felt side.

Then if you don't find an air leak there, it's probably somewhere along one of the seam lines would be my guess. So how would you check that?

I can learn how to do these things, but I'm not very good at just 'figuring it out'. :wall:

If there is a more appropriate forum, such as like a miscellenous fix it one that I missed, please feel free to let me know how to find it and I will be glad to repost there.

Welcome to the forum. The soap trick is easy and accurate.

Regular dish soap is fine - any thing that makes bubbles.

Pump up the bed and spray, sponge, or paint small (12" x12") areas so you can watch them for a few seconds. When you put the solution over the leak, it will blow soap bubbles. Mark and dry the spot. Continue on in case there is more than one leak.

Once you have found them, apply the appropriate patch.

Check the patch with the soap solution to be sure it is a solid seal.

Do you know anyone with a swimming pool? horse trough? container of water? lake?

I think the best way to find liaks is dip it under water....

I have used the soap trick on numerious occasions and it is very effective. If you have a big enough bath pump the airbed up and submerge it in water. You will get bubbles seeping from the hole.
