My GE electric cooktop displays error code F156. What does this mean?

A question for anyone here: Don't owner's manuals come with codes listed?, or not? I'm really not up on these newer digital units (yet, anyway). An awful lot of people come here that want to know codes.

Error codes usually only in tech sheet or service manual. We will need model # before anybody can start to look up codes.

What are the companies trying to pull here, then?! You pay top dollar for these fancy units and then they expect you to have appliance repair people come out (maybe $50 just to show up at your door and not even do work) for something as simple maybe as the unit got unplugged? (not quite maybe, but you get my pont).

The model number is GE JP968 electric cooktop.
