I am trying to find the building code requirements for an outdoor shower in Beaufort County NC. What constitutes an enclosed shower? In what circumstances it has to be plumbed to the sewer system and when it must have a roof?

Check with your local county for building codes for plumbing.

The building codes alone are not enough. The insurance commission and the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) come into play b/c we are located on the water. The information I am receiving is contradictory.

A problem with CAMA... you must be the only person that has ever had trouble figuring out how the mighty CAMA god will rule...

Maybe some members can help more if you describe your shower plans. Are you doing a simple, open rinse off shower with a wood deck or are you trying to build an enclosed masonry monster?
